No chimneys as hospital had a separate boiler room. Hot water was piped through upright heaters in all wards and hallway. Boiler men I remember where Reg Hobbs after bus line sold to Colin Watts but others I can't remember. I to was born in Reefton hospital 1942

I remember he was well regarded & had good 'bedside' manner. I think he had malaria from a war he served in.

Allan Archer thank you for that. I realise now that there must have been an earlier hospital, then replaced by this one, as mum was born much earlier.
