Yes my father Joseph Wynne work in the mine and my mother Ivy Wynne was the teacher alongside Mr Maher and we were there at the end, the school was kept open until the year end 1951, My mother was my first teacher.

Patricia Cornelius Mr Maher then went to Camerons School where he taught me. An amazing teacher! Sorry but Waiuta's loss, was our gain.

My Mum Phyllis Leitch nee Lee, used to stay with Mrs Coles, Draper in Waiuta as a teen. She, thanks to her friend Ina Beckwith's mother, had her first flight in the Southern Cross in Ikamatua in the early 1930s
