This pic is so familiar. My m. grandmother and her mother lived in Runanga and had their regular trips into Greymouth for shopping. G. Grandma made most of her their clothes but I do have a box of my gran's 1930's clothes still in the tailors box from Greymouth. There were long white cotton crotchless knickers in the box, that tied at both hips, and three black dresses with lace, and a black satin slip. They were elegant women who loved fashion, while their coal miner husbands worked underground to pay for it all!
