Trevor Sweeney, manager of Hallensteins, 5 foot nothing, great advocate for Athletics / Harriers. use to lunch at Kings Monday to Friday, married a waitress (cant remember her name, petite, blonde, quiet girl) a real gentleman and servant to the sport. I think moved to the Hawkes Bay but not certain of that.

Thank you for posting their faces as I was in Westport harriers only got to see their faces at the start of the races often greymouth had the legs over us in those days.

I was in the Hoki Harriers from approx 1967 to the end of 1975 season and we regularly raced against the Grey club. I remember Dave and Eddie well but being younger raced in midgets, colts and later junior mens grade while they and the others in the newspaper photos were senior men's grade. Dave made everyone proud with his Boston marathon result. Looking back perhaps I admire Eddie more than any other Coast athlete. He was extremely good over a wide range of distances, ran both athletics and harriers and had great longevity as a competitor. [I won various colts and junior men events hosted by the Grey club and still have some certificates somewhere]

Yes I remember Margaret used to work at Kings, she once sent Trevor a message "Love you, but need radio more" lol, funny how little things stick in your mind.

I remember racing against both Eddie and Dave in many of the big harrier races held over here in Christchurch especially the takahe to Akaroa like many others at the time all I used to see was their backsides disappearing in the distance ahead of me Colman creagh would love to see those pics
