I'm just wanting to establish if Martin Kennedy of our family is the same as the wellington merchant Martin Kennedy who owned the brunner mine at one stage. His son was James Joseph Kennedy or is this a different blood line

I can remember going to see Dr Barry Dallas in an old house on that corner when I was little. I wonder if it's the same house.

Dr Dallas had his surgery there 50s to 60s, prior to that I’m sure the Gilbert family lived there.

Glenn, have you read the book about King Dick and "the Kelly Gang" - the group of ex-West Coasters who captured the liquor trade in Wgton, after making their fortune on the West Coast gold fields. Fascinating mafioso behaviour, and to some degree the reason the Opposition party called themselves "Reform."

Yes I have read that book a couple of years ago. Perhaps from it I was I recalling that the Wellington Martin Kennedy may have had a West Coast past or connections. Crony capitalism is alive and well even under the current administration!

Mrs Dennehy had a special Kennedy Taxi for her as she was a very large lady.

Carolyn, you will find on West Coast Recollect that I have posted a photo of the Dennehy's when dad (Jim Kennedy), took the Dennehy Family on a tour of the North Island in a Studebaker President 8 car. Dad also took them round the South Island
