Dobson mine.ca.1965.
The electrician's workshop on the left, attached to the main stores. In the background is the Blacksmith shop, Fitters workshop and Carpenters shop. On the right of the picture is the Lamp-house, where everyone going underground was issued their individual lamps, so the empty spaces indicated who was underground. Each lamp was numbered on the battery and was always returned to its correct (also numbered slot) to be charged."Date of Photo1965Map[1]

Yes Dobson mine, I served most of my apprenticeship as an electrician there, but left at the end of 1964 This was taken around 1965. The two Gibson brothers were also top earning miners George and don't know his brothers name.
William Glendenning
The names are all familiar, but as a scatty teenager I don't remember the faces. Also my old man, Jim Glendenning was district superintendent of mines, so I was regarded with some suspicion. Can't blame them really, but I didn't really get on with the old man, so no one really needed to worry. Water under the bridge now. I was there 1959 (late) till 1964 (December)

Dad said the safety measures and protocols in Dobson were much better than in the Strong mine.He said he saw guys grunching in Strongman mine..and he stopped one miner and asked him who gave him permisson to Grunch and he said the inspector.. but Dad said no one would ever give permission to grunch, In the Dobson mine they planked.Grunching caused the Strongman mine disaster.

Lets be honest Lyn you were just like the rest of us-good country kids but a lot less than the saints symbol that you have used ??good to hear from you.For me I still struggle at times to reason why such a huge reserve of coal was left behind when all the infrastructure was there just saying!!!
