In my 6th form year (6-4) they had this stupid rule where ar the end of the day you had to return to your “home room” to take a roll call
Just to make sure one hadn’t wagged school.
Jack hated the idea bless him.
Told us all not to bother after a few weeks.
Just go home kids....
Also had him for maths. And a PE class.
Jonathan Fairhurst dislocated his knee playing softball on the rec and we loaded Jono into the back of Jacks Citroen to take him to hospital.
Try doing that now...
Some helicopter parent would sue you...
Jane Wells
Great bloke
John Coffey
Jack was 37th Squadron Greymouth Air Training Corps 2IC (to Harvey O'Loughlin) circa 1961 when we marched around and occasionally shot .22 rifles in the Army Hall. Afterwards some of us would call into the Regent Theatre (free admission after halftime) or visit the Pie Cart. We once dropped in on a Japanese fishing boat and caused an uproar among the crew who thought (with our uniforms) it was a Customs raid. They gave us chop sticks as souvenirs. Greymouth was safe while we were patrolling the streets -- and wharf!
Wayne Gladstone
Also had Jack as a maths teacher at Grey High in late 60's.
Called one of my class mate 'a wild man from Borneo'.
Drove a Citreon, top guy, still going.
