During the first couple of years when I was 5 and 6 years old and very small for my age, it was a scary experience. There were only wires on the sides below the rail and spaces between the boards through which the railway tracks could be seen below. I walked right in the centre of the bridge to avoid falling over one of the edges and feared that a train would go underneath while i was crossing. Gradually I became more adventurous and walked along one side or the other and looked down at the sheep and cattle. It was interesting to see how many sheep had red stripes painted on their backs and how many had blue stripes. By the time I was 9 years old I rode a bicycle to school and sometimes rode it over the bridge, but mostly went a different route.
