Everyone was a Volunteer at Otira Fire Brigade, also most everyone was a volunteer in Search & Rescue....They were great days and full of fun, we used to be so fit we could meet ourselves coming back from a run?? ."

Gavin Clout One is at Ferrymead, the other in Inchbonnie, gutted and used as a farm truck. That was the last time I saw it.

Tony Wilson I remember traveling over the otira gorge to fill up a steam train that had come from Christchurch and the throttle body somehow got stuck at full acceleration and I wound up having to wrap a rag around my hand and reaching in to control the acceleration as we were heading downhill when it happened.scary moment but we got to Arthur's pass and filled the train.whew.

Gavin Davy Used to do the warrant checks on the old Dennis as well as those at Kumara, Ngahere, Kaniere and a couple of other small towns down south. they also had 4 cylinder Cosworth powered portable pumps.
