CommentsColin Tuck Here’s a little supporting information sourced from my cousin Lew Weinberg about his late brother Bud & the photo above —Great history there. Taken late 50s at a bit of pakihi the motorcycle club had leased out at coal creek— I think that’s right- it’s on the back road to Taylorville up from the snowflake ice cream factory. They used to go out on weekends and work at clearing the gorse etc. bud only had one bike to my knowledge— a 1954 triumph speed twin - and that might be the day joe took possession- looks like he’s sitting on it . Don’t know for sure , but bud needed the money for our trip over seas in 1961 .
While we were over there bud arranged to go to Isle of Man race week for a look - didn’t compete- while there he was having s look round the pits and met a young kiwi guy on his own who was riding so bud offered to be his pit man / keep times etc/ but tragedy struck - and he ran into a wall during practice- killed! Can’t remember his name - probably be there on google- I’ll have to have a look now . But it was the summer of 62

Colin Tuck The guy was Colin Meehan. Competing in junior race on June 6 1962. Tragic.

Great pic. Returning from Greymouth my late Father Des O'Regan said we call in and see "Dutchy" Alan and Joes father. I was mesmerised by the ford coupes in various states and battle scars, several sprung hub triumph twins and even an Allard. Memories of a young lad.. What a backyard they had. Great photo, thanks.
