Marianne Kelly Yes it does Kylie but I think if it's one of the Lees from Kumara it's more likely his dad Len Lee because of the date it was taken. He was my father-in-law.

Marianne Kelly If it is Harold and the races date is right then that would make Harold approx 20 yrs old when the photo was taken - so still think it could be Len - I'll check with one of the Lee boys.

John Rosanowski Parents of two great West Coast sportsmen in this photo. One son, Les Gilsennan (Jr) was twice a world champion axeman, 1967 and 1977. Repped NZ in international events for 17 yrs. Les's skills are illustrated in that he weighed only 77kg in a sport dominated by men of much greater size. Was regarded as "the classiest wood chopper of his time." His brother Dan was also a NZ champion, as well as later a NZ team manager and selector.
