Good on you Angela, Dad, Ron Scott and I worked at building at Whataroa. We did alterations to the Police station and the house there, Stewart Reed was the Police Officer at the time and we stayed in the Whataroa Hotel. I remember the old Jockey that worked around the hotel but forgot his name. Great place and very good people .....I think it was back in the late 60's.

Hi Butch that doesn't ring a bell, it was a short name, and I have been hitting my head to think of the publican at the time. We also drank at the Hari Hari with Bob Martina when we build a house there for the lands and survey. And also the Forks Hotel, I was young then but had a great teacher.
Pauline Healey
Angela, could your grandmother have been the Miss Walsh who taught at Ikamatua School in the 1920s? My mother Billie McEwin (born 1919) and her brother Boxer were there at that time and mum often used to talk about her school days and her teacher Miss Walsh. From what I remember, they had a pot belly stove in the classroom and, in winter, milk would be heated on the stove to make them a cup of cocoa, which mum really enjoyed.

The Nolan family are awesome to being the first other family we meet coming back to home, we shared food, and information about what was working in our space. Now these connections are being pushed aside, 2 decides later, my question is. why do you thing your neighbor is not grounded to what the world is about to throw at as. Regards Lloyd
