Longford Hotel, Kokatahi, 1909.

DescriptionLONGFORD HOTEL (John Graham, proprietor), Lower Kokatahi. This hotel was built in the year 1902, and is situated ten miles from Hokitika, at the junction of the roads leading to Koiterangi and Upper Kokatahi. It is a well kept three-storied building, and contains fourteen rooms.

There is good accommodation, a moderate tariff, and the best liquors are kept. Good fishing and shooting can be obtained in the neighbourhood. There is a farm of one hundred acres in connection with the establishment, and another of thirty-seven acres is held in the district by Mr. Graham. In the Koiterangi district he also holds 200 acres, and Mrs Graham, 101 acres.(From Cyclopedia of NZ.)

Gordon McIntosh I remember the Longford - on the T junction on the road from Hokitika - one way led to Kokatahi and other way to Kowhiterangi. Burnt down in the late 60's if I remember correctly.

Jan Douglas Sorry. Stan spent time in the bar with adults who had him on and teased him a bit. Didn't help his temperament at all. Evidently he kept guinea pigs and one old fella told Stan that if he held a guinea pig up by its tail, its eyes would pop out. Stan went out to try it and when he realised they don't have tails, he slaughtered his pets.

Arthur Bass Apparently it was a long straight passage in the front out the back.
