It is a shame no plaque, just a wooden cross. Perhaps Rotary or is Jaycees still going with Bob Jamieson as the famous get things done President, they could fund raise and put a plaque in the ground in place of the cross

I think my great grand parents, are in Greymouth cemetery. In a paupers grave. Visited G recently. And went to where they were buried. Nothing there. Surname Taylor. I would like to contact someone about putting them into a proper resting place with their names on it,

Maureen Shaw if u r g the council you will find you might be able to “mark the grave” with a headstone and or a surrounding.. to actually move the grave would be really expensive and if there are others buried there u would need their family permission as your disturbing their grave.

What did Laurie Anisy and the Grey rotary do here, all countries throughout the world have Paupers, grave I have seen a few in my travels overseas. what's another name they use please explain as I'm curious. thank you

I think a shame really I am sure that all of these poor souls would have played a part in our history somewhere along the way that is in the old part of the Greymouth Karoro Cemetery which is a credit to council and it’s contractors perhaps we may have to recognise that not everyone has made the grade to afford a burial not just back in those days but indeed today
