Geoffrey Bell.."Alf Harrison's Grandfather. Edward Harrison worked in this quarry. In 1885 he died from exposure type conditions after taking ill while working there."

CommentsGraeme Williams Great photo. The old quarry was certainly a local Cobden feature in particular when it was still working during the 50's. They wouldn't get consent to mine the rock from there these days.

Geoffrey Bell Edward Harrison, Dianne's G G Grandfather worked in this quarry. In 1885 he, supposedly, died from exposure type conditiions after taking ill while working there. Alf Harrison's Grandfather.

I got an old pair of trousers and an shirt. Filled them with stuff from the bush. We tossed it over the edge with a blood curdling yell just when someone was biking past. Freak is putting it mildly.

My granddad, Bob Rawcliffe, worked there too, around the 1920s - 1930s. They only got paid if the weather allowed them to work.
