DescriptionJames Ring arrived in NZ in 1879. He commenced business in Greymouth in 1881 having taken over the photographic studio of W H Perkins.
He married Kate Maria Vinsen at Greymouth 17 April 1882.
They had 6 children all born in Greymouth. Their son Leslie was killed in action 1918. He had joined the British Army. He was aged 30 and left a wife and baby son and she was pregnant with their second son.
William Augustus (Gus) joined the New Zealand Army and saw action in France. He was an accountant and died in Wellington 1963. Claude continued on the family business and was a photographer based in the Stewart Dawson Building in Christchurch. He died in 1971.
