Alec Birch Looking at Grandads age here I'd say it was when Holyoake was Minister of Agriculture in Sid Hollands 1st National Govt, and with Henry Finches house in the background they're standing in the paddock across the road from Granddads house, but as a twist Carol Stewart the Arahura Pa school would have been either just opening or being built about this time.

Don Hutton Interpret "interesting" liberally Alec Birch!! There would almost certainly have been a newspaper report about the visit. No doubt about Kiwi Keith and check historical cabinet lists for Bill Renwick. Might be a bit early for him?

Don Hutton Further info: Bill Renwick was appointed in 1975 so this is not him. He was DG when I joined DOE in 1981 and wasn't a tall man.
