CommentsJack Pittaway All gone now, such a shame as this would have been great to have a Westport to Hokitika train trip.
Bill Johnsen And govt pricing such a train to take people off coast road and then spend millions at Punakaiki ..a tourist train could not survive at Queenstown ..how many people would travel on such a train everyday ..would need 100 to .200 a day surely and what costs to maintain train and carriages and staff etc...and tracks to maintain , bridges, to carry 30 people a day...
David Lindsay Be good if the transalpine went to Hokitika!
David Lindsay Maybe it should stop at Moana then...sorry to say Greymouth is dismal these days...you can almost see the tumbleweeds rolling down the street...I lived there for a while and loved it...but now..every time I come back it's dead!
Anthea Keenan Steve McLaren Due dilegence and consultation...compliance to legislation has bn failing @WDC many times. Sad we lost our railway station as it makes a town...but Tranz rail and NZTA know....John Moore As a lad I departed from here many times at Xmas. Love the memory, thanks.
PaulAnthony Teens Check the rubbish on the track. Fred should’ve picked it up
Clare Pierson PaulAnthony Teens Took the photo before his shift started!!!!
John Murray he was waiting for Train Control to give him clearance yah got to realise it was peak hour.
Neil Blanchfield needs a paint job, lol
Phil Millar Not much activity these days, look at the rail surface, all rusty, not shiney!
Margaret Suggett Fond memories of the Hokitika train station!!
Steve Lowe The station was demolished within the next 12 months
Garry Wick Painted this station back in the late 60s
Garry Wick Looks like it needs another one .
Anthea Keenan With respect to a well utilised railway station until closure....remember too in history all highly respected government officials arriving to unveil our Pioneer Monument 1914 on railway terrace..and peace celebrations etc. appreciated means of transport to Hokitika, Ross too... before air transport. Stephen Foster Bring this bac to Hoki would be great for the town carting on down to fox ????
John Paget The line only ever went to Ross. Impossible to get to Fox by rail. To many mountains.
Ron Surgenor Stuart and Chapman tramway extended south a further 20Km and from what I remember at least 1 road rail bridge.
Richard Pope Ron Surgenor You mean Bold Head?
Richard Pope Now the sandflies are the size and look suspiciously like petrol pumps.Averil Thorpe Wow traveled from Hoki to Grey with Mum and my little ones shopping often on the railcar Brings back lovely memories
Colin Watkins My birth town.
Richard Pope a forest of trestles, cosy and solid. How architecture has moved with the times. Riccarton Stn had a garden. How the ants must play whilst the plutocrats spend.
PaulAnthony Teens Neil it’s bin gone for years

John Nancekivell When we were kids we used to try and drop bottles down the smoke stack of the trains from the foot bridge, the train drivers were always threatening to kick our asses, we thought it was funny at the time,
