DescriptionForced down by engine trouble while flying the West Coast United Aero Club's Tiger Moth from Christchurch to Greymouth last Thursday, Pilot Officer Lloyd Parry makes a skilful landing in a small, rough clearing in the Taipo Valley 40 miles inland from Greymouth.
Left: The aeroplane as it came to rest. The only damage, torn fabric and a broken propeller tips, caused when the machine broke through the tops of tall trees near the clearing. The pilot was unhurt.
Right: Fastening a heavy stone to anchor the aeroplane pending its removal.

Bruce Dando Yes, you took us in there to put dazzle on the bigger rocks, unfortunately we lost sight of them in the long grass and the strip had a bend in it

John Kerr all good strips have a dog leg.i landed on the that same strip and the Tyre had gone flat.it was stuffed so walked out .remember one time same thing but stuffed grass clothes etc into it and got away.
