DescriptionA Class, built E. W. Mills (Lion Foundry). Also known as a Mills Engine.
1885 - 1911 - Greymouth Harbour Board for quarry use.Came to GHB from PWD Greymouth where it was used for Harbour Works, 1878 – 1884.

Ogilvie's Sawmill, Gladstone 1911 – 1958.
The engine is now at Shantytown.
Church has gone, now a MacDonald's there.

Current Status:
Restored at Shantytown 2009 – 12 after being on display, 1958 - 1986 in Greymouth in Petrie Avenue by Jade Boulder Gallery. Moved from there to Shantytown where it was again restored and put on permanent display.Date of Photo1970Map^[1]ContributorClaire Ward

Jill Smith Jason Murly no my Dad sold to Brian and Kerry Heveldt. Fairlie was where Barney Trowbridge had his butcher shop. Always fascinated me with the wee pigs running around the top of the building.

Jill Smith No it was the Methodist Church (I think) also had a hall beside it. The milk factory was next to that. There was a laneway between them for the tankers.

John Greaney Yes that was our playground to.there was a hedge between the park and rail lines prior. Took the hedge out for safety reason I would say.
