There was a large concrete and steel-lined walk-in safe vault in the interior. (I know because I walked into the steel door head lining when researching Reefton's Electricity story in the 1980s. Brought me to my knees with blood coursing down my face. Proudly I noticed that I was still carefully holding the county's Minute Books in my arms !!)

Worked in Grey County Offices in the early 1960s…new office girl, used to get locked in large concrete safe by office co worker, luckily I wasn’t chlostophobic (can’t spell). I switched light on and read the wonderful historical ledgers, until he decided to let me out….didn’t hit my head though, …I locked him in one day…he panicked….he didn’t do it to me again….fun times….the door was about 10 inches thick…

Beauty of a building. Mother told of stories as a child visiting her uncle jim McGregor who was secretary to council, spinning around in his swivel office chair.

I took grandads Morris 1100 for my license from there... going down towards the main street the cop saw someone he knew and said stop here.. so I did.. in the middle of the road with the passenger door open while he talked to the guy!! Only in Reefton could u do that.. got my motorbike license from their also..
