Neroli Liddell Our house did that's Dad in the canoe Colin Bell and that's our House remember it well we helped lift carpet and furniture before the water came in mum was at work at the Ashley Motor Inn.

Jennifer Gaskell The flood was 1978. Mum and Dad lived in the Railway Houses in Paroa Road. I have photos of Dad in a row boat getting Mum out to higher ground.
Carolyn Luck Milton Road, 1978. Looks like Colin Bell in the boat. We lived in Shakespeare Street, backed into Milton Road. Mum came out in a boat, water all through house and it was very muddy water. A terrible time.

Jan Powell One of the infant classes at Grey Main had a calendar on which the weather for each day was recorded. We did a count-up. There were 56 consecutive days of rain that year.
Jill Smith I lived in Milton road with my parents. I have some awesome photos. I married in 1978 so think it was well before that - unless that's another flood I remember. Milton Road flooded several times we used to ride our bikes through the water - great fun.

Ian N Valerie Hilliard When I first saw this posting without seeing your comment Jill,my immediate memory was of Aunty Joan and Uncle Keith Batty and my Mum and Dad talking about the flooding and my memories of Milton Street.
Jill Smith Hi Valerie yes lots of flooding in Milton Road year's ago. Never entered mum and dad's house though.
Lynn Edwards We lived at 4 Eva street. Left the house later in the morning -I think it was 14th April 1978 with my two year old and one year old by climbing out the bay window and into a police boat. We got to know all our wonderful neighbours in the clean up days and became the most sociable street in Greymouth. Great memories.
Frances Keating I remember helping clean up Mike Bourkes home in Bedgood St and Jack Watersons home in Marsden Rd I worked with them both at Westpower.

Ray Vincent Remember giving Tom Anderson a ride home in my river raft with the outboard jet on the back. Tom lived in a Railway house?? Up that way.
