DescriptionMy dad, Vic Eckhoff, in the mid to late 60's Those were great steam days. Often went with him on those trips in the cab, couldn't do it today.....Here's a great shot of Dad. Spent lots of times in the cab with dad. Good memories. Taken sometime around mid to late 60's..( Dennis Eckhoff.)

This photo is taken inside a Da class diesel loco in the north island The sign above the persons head is one clue as the steam engines never had anything
like that but the Da's did as there much bigger then the steam engines in the 60's. Also the brake stand would be in front of and to the driver right if in a steam engine but the Da diesels had the

Dave Simpson The shot would have been taken after Vic transferred to Taumarunui. Vic learnt the road north with us on 626 on a biterly cold and frosty Taumarunui morning, a real west coaster with jandels on!

Peter Esler Early '70s, on goods with Vic, between Piriaka and Kakahi, Speed restriction coming up, Vic reading newspaper, "C board Vic", Vic closes throttle continues reading paper, a bit further on, "T board Vic", Vic scrunches paper, looks out front window, fully opens throttle and picks up paper again.
