it's had me thinking. I was at Taylorville school when the archaeologist were on the site and every Friday the senior students were able to go there for the afternoon. Jason Ross your year younger than me u may have gone down there too?

Craig Brooks the coalition heath hole is easy enough to find And there is a faint track leading to it below the existing rd.that tall building I suspect is the bins for it

Trying to figure out the location of the big hole in the strata below, where we were told that Thomas Brunner (?) first saw the coal. Is it to the left of the pic down near water level?

There was an old shaft mine right above where I understood Thomas Brunner found coal. Going by the cliffs behind that could be the mine in this picture. Not sure it’s Coalpit Heath though. I get the Brunner mines mixed up. Comment needed from the Greens as they know the names and location’s better than I.

That's not the case when u blow that pic up u can c the rock formations there that still exist today.looked at them out the window f long enough.

Bruce Lightfoot Me too. Hundreds of trips. Just not sure which side of the ‘Coal cave’ the buildings are sited. Look very close.

My Great Grandfather, Robert Lees (was Mayor for a time)had a store in Brunnerton in 1880’s. Up on the hill opposite the Mine, don’t think there is anything left of settlement.

AS a result of a lot of hard work by a Taylorville local Mr Alex Wood there are quite a lot of reminients of both the mine site and the buildings above it in a viewable state after decades of being covered over by regeneration.lt is very difficult to piece it all together given that it is well over a hundred years plus since its existence
