Tony Simpson later taught at SOHS, and Malcolm Deverson, became the Headmaster at ODHS. oops, ODHS would have been CAS by then.

Yup, that crew there when I was.
Good times!
Paul Ortega
Wow, this brings back some great memories, of my year (1979) as an AFS exchange student at GHS. It was literally life changing!
A great host family, the Nimmos in Cobden, and very kind and welcoming people throughout. I am ever so grateful for the experience.
Paul Marshall
Damer Farrell. Was told he would look at students technical drawings and say you couldn't even use this for toilet paper. What sort of dickhead thinks he can do that. Some teachers were bad back then
Murray Hay
Teachers soccer team was a good team. Too strong for us blaketown lads
Mind you every team was too strong for us ?
Helen Macduff
Oldies must be at the front
Don't know anyone in the back 39. Was there 58 to 63
Yvonne Davidson was OK if you wanted to learn French. Ritchie deMontalk studied Aviation. His top mark was 5 for neatness.
Jack Flood was there but never taught any of the academic classes in my time. Mike Bruce was a perfect in my 4th year. Bob Dayne was a good honest teacher and stern disciplinarian. Young Hoss Hoglund held the circuit record for the quadrangle after scoring a double from Bob.
Murray Saunders
I had quite a few of them for teacher’s.
Great times indeed.
Also tough opponents in soccer .
The teachers soccer club at the time was very very strong.
It was quite funny being in pubs under age drinking with the School teachers on Sunday afternoons..
Quite a few of them played for the West Coast team too.
Respect ✊

Johnny Smith
Left in 69 and was picked up by the “Grease” at Reception for having a poor excuse for a moustache as I was about to make my final exit. He told me he was going to have my leaving cert modified but it never happened. Am 73 now and had a pretty good career. Thanks mate!
Kevin Barker
I got to know Brian Wood who sometimes worked as a reliever at Westland High in the 1990's when I worked there as a physics teacher.
Helen Fielding
Some of those people were v important in my lil life! I hope they knew.

Robert Mathewson

I find it a great pity that many of the comments here are negative. My family was directly involved in the school from its first year 1923 until 1990 in various roles. In that time some of the people in this photo were pupils and teachers and not one of them deserves to be accorded the eliminatory language used. Overall GHS was a very good school which served its community very well and personal attacks are inappropriate. Don Hutton 1951 - 55.
Malcolm Pentecost
Geoff Jolliffe I’m friends with now in Martinborough and cuts my hair small world .
Lisa Sparks
