Ted had his cheese factory on the farm known as "The Maori". His diary records instructions on cheese-making, & that he made his first 3 cheeses on 17th December 1917.
However, the enterprise slowly faded out when he went away to camp shortly afterwards.
Little is known about Karamea's other cheese factory, which was possibly established round the same period on what was Mr Don Harvey's farm at Kongahu. The Curtin brothers, & George Grant, were apparently involved in the running of it.
