Noel Thomson Alot of them houses are still there.
Don Hutton Kilgour Road in the foreground. Perotti St in the centre then Palmerston St above that. Greymouth Technical HS top right with the latest wing built in 1930 (lighter colour). Lydia St at left. I can see our house at 24 Marsden Rd which was built in 1928. So this photo will be early 1930s I would guess.
Don Hutton Jack Bluett's place (2 storey) far left top. Des Barrow may be able to tell us more about the people who lived in Kilgour Rd, Perotti St and thereabouts. The Meiklejohns lived in one of the facing houses. I can see Dr Moore's 2 storey house in Buccleugh St, the United Pavilion and tennis courts in Shakespeare St on the right.
Geoffrey King yr a mind of information Don Hutton. Jack Bluett was the Chemist?did he end his life in unusual circumstances shall we say
Don Hutton Jack Bluett had a pharmacy in Tainui St. His children Barry & Jill were my contemporaries. Jack lived to a great age. I was at his funeral in Christchurch quite some years ago. Barry gave a brilliant eulogy of him. Jack was a very likable man.
Claire Ward That's a beautiful villa! Is it still there?
Don Hutton It might show up on street view.
Don Hutton No. Street view doesn't go up Devon St and the bush on Kilgour Rd obscures where that lovely villa is or was.
Maureen Tones Don,the bush that you see is part of the front property of that villa ..it had a driveway through it up to the house ..the trees also went right back behind Greenslades place ..
Don Hutton Thanks Maurine, I had forgotten that the Greenslades lived there too. John & Clarice were a few years my senior.
Murray Hay yes the house is still there I am sure. I helped my brother Kevan do some painting in there when I was about 15 or 16, so 45 years ago. most of the houses are still there in Kilgour Road, and Perotti Street
Ian Haussmann Think your right

Maureen Tones Cherame Mossley the O,donnells that lived next door to us was Charlie & daughters Nancy & Margaret .it was a single story home & then Rothsays bought it & added top story .
Murray Hay Cherame Mossley , Frank O'Donnell did build a house further along that street on the left and they did raise their family there, it would be just out of that picture.
Bruce Keddie Yes, agree. Must have been taken from near the top of Tindale Road
Cherame Mossley The Rathbuns had homes on that st. My family and i used to visit Edward Rathbun before he passed away.. lovely family. I lived up Tindale road for yrs.. the homes on kilgour road were stunning villas. Sure Costellos were there too among the mix.
