Bill Garth I thought about that, but the weights were so low! 4.13 is 27kg. Definitely kids boxing, and some little ones at that! 9 stone is the heaviest on that program is 57kg. That's an average size 13-14 year old.

Bill Garth my late father Bert Baldwin was the boxing coach in Whataroa and my late brother Martin was one of the boxers from Whataroa mentioned and I agree that the numbers would be their weight, as kids we travelled to Greymouth to the boxing tournaments and it was a great event in Whataroa when we had the boxing tournaments.

During the 1960's we didn't have boxing at those ages/weights in Hokitika as far as I can remember. Interesting to see Whataroa in South Westland represented alongside the Greymouth and Blackball names.
