Stephen Dwyer Heather Newby. The Red Queen is pretty close to the pin on the map. The narrow creek to the left is Jones Creek. The creek that comes out opposite Jones Creek over the gravel bar is Maori Creek and the little square just upstream from Jones Creek is where Seatonville once stood. Alot of history covered by the bush in this little corner of the Mokihinui River.

Stephen Dwyer The green squiggle shows the location of one of the batteries used to crush gold. There was another on the other side of the river too.
The blue line shows the approximate location of the stacked rocks that served as house foundations of the miners. The red dot is the Red Queen. The red S is the rough location of the Swastika mine. I've had a quick look for it but got distracted by a deer.
The yellow lines show roughly where the track zig zagged from Seatonville up onto the ridge above, and from the rockwork Neil talked of toward the quartz mines.
Along the ridge are several trees with wire rope embedded in them from the South side of the river to North.
On the North side of the river were several quartz mines. I've found a few of them over the years. The Guiding Star had a tram setup to transport the quartz from the mine to the battery that serviced it. There is still stamper rods and a cut foundation stone on the bush 100m below the mine entrance, the battery having been removed at some point.
Stephen Dwyer Also. The purple dot is the pelton wheel and compressor site for the Red Queen. There is galv pipes running up the hill to the mine.
The red dot on the North bank is the rough location of an unnamed mine I have yet to chase down. There is supposed to be a deep trench cut into the hillside to supply water to the stamper they had over there.
