Carnerd Mark Only if you have never lived in the area. It's always had an S to those of us who are descended from the Settlers. Latterday know it alls who try to rewrite history. Any way it was always just called "The Bay" by the residents of the area!

Peter Robertson It would be interesting to see a copy of the original survey or subdivision maps, to see how it was spelled back in the day. All the modern references quote it as singular. The road I live on has always had a singular name but the majority of people pronounce it as a plural.Sean Millington

Down there fishing and sitting talk to one of the Marley's whom was mending a fishing net. A camper van pulled up the driver got out and between swiping at sandflies asked if the road goes past here old guy Marley looked at the tourist and said if it does it must be at night time cause I haven't seen it in daylight

My husband crayfished out of here in the 60s/70s. Walked along that pier so many times.

My family landed there. 1874 from memory, Heveldts . They settled up the Turnbull River. I remember visiting for the centenary celebration, we stayed with Eileen Nolan and her family. Travelled up the Turnbull River to the original homestead to takes photos etc and salvaged some hand forged nails. I guess the house is long gone now. Also some relatives, young men drowned in the river and buried in the bush cemetery - my grandmother Dorothea Maude Carroll (Heveldt) always called it home. Great uncle John (Jacky) Heveldt was a musterer up the Cascade for the Nolans. In 1974 we went into the Cascade homestead by helicopter. I'm guessing there is a road now.

Jackson's Bay as it was when I lived there in 1940s. Can see our house, my Uncle and Aunts house,the hall, the canteen and storeroom. There is the Post Office and next door was the bakehouse then along to the left and up the little road was the MOW workshop where my Dad worked.
On the right of the canteen was the Engineer's office then some workmens huts. Next on the rise was Dan Greaney's house then the Engineer's residence. I have so many happy memories of my early childhood living in that special place.
