Lindsay Dowling Parkys was best takaways in NZ it started life further down tainui st near the convent and also remember accross the road from Haddocks was a bakery and a butchers
Del Godfrey Yep, Shannon and Glens top of Thompson Street, one of the best bakeries around, and used to get skewers for toffee apples from Barry at the butchers.
Ave Muir Worked for Ron Haddock 1965, with Diane PRESCOTT? Next door was another grocer, and I think a Raylene Washer worked there???
Laurie Anisy Yes Ave, Raylene worked for Arnold Beck along side Haddocks.Earlier on was Wally Brooks and Jim Rothwell hairdresser (in the takeaway building).

Bun Hat was owned by Ray Parkinson Dale

Jason Mather originally Cherie Birchfield. Ray worked for her, eventually buying her out, then became Parkys. The first burger bar was in the old butter factory further towards town on Tainui St.

I remembered Keystores in a shop between Ron Haddocks and Merv's.Before Keystores I have remember it selling school books etc.Thats early 1960's.A house in that gap as well;someone will remember who lived there.

It was actually Haddock’s, then Keystores then Merv’s then a spare section and lastly, Bun Hat Burger Bar. The Baird family house was in there too as was Freddie Cutbush’s house to the left of Haddock’s. Keystores was last run by Theo Jurrius.
