I think that this building was in fact the Post Office. The fancy woodwork around the window and door would suggest it was not a miner's hut, but rather a post office of some kind of office.

Heather Newby and Greg Ross they are the same building and yes it was the old weigh bridge building from the Hoki wharf. A replica was built to put back down at Gibson Quay in Hoki.

Very confusing titles and comments. Vaugn Bradley has it in one. As I also understand it was the weighbridge at the port Hokitika, then shifted to Stafford as a post office, then rebuilt by Rob Daniels and now sits at Gibson's Quay Hokitika. Someone might like to correct me if I am wrong.
