DescriptionAs a rejoinder to the earlier item on the Kumara Junction oil exploration rig --. In the 1960s, West Coast students and friends attending Canterbury University customarily entered a float in the annual capping procession. In 1962 the theme was the Kumara Junction well. However it was suggested that the well was drilling for beer - which was of course more closely aligned with their interests. On the front of the float are from left to right; (unknown), Max Shepherd in lab coat, and Clive Collins.
