John Rosanowski: What about all those trees on the West Coast ?? Surely they earn carbon credits for the Coast. Source of capital for locking up most of the region ??

Kyle Webster: I've got 10 acres log regenerating West Coast swamp and it's never earned me a cent :)

Barbara Macilquham: Kyle Webster there is alot of swampy land that has been mined and then humped and hollowed.put into pasture and looking awsum.greenies never open their eyes to that.

Brent David: Ian Coates they got their asses whooped good n proper here in the election recently. Look out, big Adani mine gets the go ahead almost immediately after... go figure what Brent David Ian Coates yeah, about 100 tonnes per wagon, up to 96 wagons with 3 to 5 locos, depending on make & power of loco.

JeffJanet Curtin: Alan Sheehan good load Alan similar to the iron ore trains 4 locos distibuted power?

Alan Sheehan: Yes Jeff and 2 sets of DP, you still working or retired, I’m on the countdown, just putter around in a shunt engine nowadays.

Alan Sheehan: JeffJanet Curtin actually there are 6 locomotives, 2 on head end 3 DP in the Centre and 1 at the rear, just over 15,000ft long ( almost 3 miles)

Mary Moffitt: We always used to count the wagons, carriages etc.

It was not easy trying to cross over the Stillwater railway yards in my youth. Can't believe it now, but we used to clamber through those trains.

I was not keen to be near the lines when the trains were moving though. You had to hold your breath at the North, er East? point of the station platform when trains passed each side of you.

fascinating history, thank goodness we don't have to put up with the awful stench of coal in such volumes, although on my recent visit to the coast it was still evident in many neighbourhoods, hard to understand why people still put up with it when there are so many cleaner burning options
