It was Greymouth High School 1953 and the class was 5H so it was the Homecraft group. Catherine Moffitt-Wong Back left reminds me of my aunt Faye Pascoe, she did go to Cobden school, but this could be high school?

Lu Taylor Thank you. I remember Mum having lunches/dinners with the girls from school until 1995. Shirley and Faye I recall hearing the names.

Don Hutton Greymouth Technical High School. The old main entrance is behind the group. Shirley Veale far right back row married Robert Dayne. Both teachers at GHS. All are familiar. Other names that come to mind are Jewell Davy, Lauris Best, Jean Beynon, ? Carpenter, Frances Sheldon. Teacher is familiar too but can't think of her name. I would say this is 1953 - 54.

Don Hutton The teacher was Miss M.J. Armstrong who was on the staff 1953 - 61. Home Economics teacher. Shirley left at the end of 1954 so this was taken before that. Helen Green, Mary Moffitt, might know more about this photo.

So possibly early 50’s photo taken. My Mum was Janice Carpenter.

I have several more photos (up until her passing in 1997) of eight ladies in each photo so wondering too if that is the same group whom reunited every few years.

Mary Moffitt Don Hutton some faces look familiar, but I don't recall names. Marjorie Armstrong was my art teacher in 1953. She was, for a time engaged to Peter Hooper.

Mary Moffitt I will look in my old school magazines for matching images. The girl in the middle looks a bit like Wendy Robertson, but I am not sure. Ismay Kinsella had lovely blonde hair like the girl at the back. I am not sure about that either.

Ismay Kinsella is not in the photo but they do look similar in face and hair at that age. I have many photos of her back in the 50’s until recent too.

Don Hutton GTHS Form III rolls 1951. III.H is the one to look at. Several of the girls in the photo are here. Full names given which was unusual in the Mawhera Gazette. I was wrong about Shirley Veale - she was my year too.

Don Hutton GTHS Form IV rolls 1952. IV.H 1 & 2 Numbers had dropped dramatically because so many left school as soon as they turned 15. Plenty of jobs in those days!
