Ray Vincent Sure they still there, the plan was to remove the first tunnel out of Springfield which was on a curve and narrow?

Phil McVicar Tunnel 11 day lighted a few years back now, tunnel 1 still there

Phil Millar Driven a 6 man trolley from Springfield through to Otira back in the 60's 70's,pretty wet in the Otira tunnel though!

I think tunnel 14 is one of the tunnel that was daylighted up there a few years back.

I know exactly where this is,used to drive a 6 man trolley up and down that line to the bridges that we worked on!

Ray Deo - The cost of building that line was extensive but when completed it changed a two day trip to Christchurch to a little over 3 hours. Meaning that you could go to Christchurch for a days shopping and be home in time for a scotch and dinner
