Di Fleming Hi, My grandfather Wattie (Walter) Williams was manager of this property. It was known as "Rocklands'. My grandfather and his wife Noeline May Wiliams (Nee Southon) raised their 6 children there. They initially lived in a little cottage near to the main house and later moved into the big house. I have a color photo taken in 1958 while the cottage was still being lived in by my grandparents.

Di Fleming Rocklands was owned by Captain J G Walker, as far as we know he was a captain of ships that brought immigrants to New Zealand). Mum may be able to find out more if you are interested. Just let me know.

Di Fleming Lynne Elvins Thanks for that . when Mum told me about the immigrants she said she thought that was what he did. But when you say about a cutter I think I have heard that before too. Mum will be interested in what you have to say. Thank you. She said tonight she has a book somewhere with info on Captain Walker.

Di Fleming I remember often meeting Mr and Mrs Banks when I was staying with my Aunt and Uncle, Eleanor and Colin Williams. I used to stay with my family in the school holidays. I remember going and doing the hay baling etc when Uncle Col drove the truck for Transport Nelson.
