DescriptionAnn Knipe.."Lake Poerua and Mt Te Kinga are in the foreground so my guess is that this photo has been taken from the Range on the other side of the valley - around Mt Alexander and not from Mt Te Kinga.

This lake is sitting on top of the faultline.

Ray Vincent this is the major worry if the alpine faultline lifts during an earthquake. if the water runs into lake brunner then the arnold and grey it will cause a lot of damage!

Don Hutton I had to climb that mountain (Te Kinga & Paddock Hill) c.1958 with surveyor Bob Dalglish when the L & S was asked by the DSIR to locate the precise position of the Alpine fault at Rocky Point on the highway by the Taramakau River further to the left of this photo. Hard work carrying survey gear!
