About this image
DescriptionThe Recreation Hotel Greymouth..early 1960s. We lived opposite the Rec in Buccleugh Street and my father George took this photo. He was a member of the Greymouth Camera Club and he entered this photo in one of their competitions with the title.."the Pub with no Beer"...in the early 60's wooden barrels were replaced with aluminium barrels.
Here at the Rec there was a wooden cellar door on the footpath and the barrels were lowered into the cellar..
No drink drive in those days but there was 6.0'clock closing....that was 6.00 am wasn't it?PhotographerGeorge WebsterDate of Photo1960-69Map[1] ContributorKelvin Webster
