Description100 years ago today at Reefton Hospital, my grandmother Ellen (Nell) Askew died from the Spanish Influenza - she was 33 years old. This post is in memory of her and the impact of the loss on her three children, Doug, Elva and Rita. She is buried in Reefton Cemetery. Anyone who lives in Reefton who could make a pilgrimage for me today to her grave - that would be wonderful. Presbyterian Section Plots 419 and 420 - with her husband and son (Jack Askew, d 1936 and Reg Askew died 1917). There are plaques on the graves. This photo is on their wedding day in Ballarat Victoria in 1907.
