Don Hutton More than pleased to make your week Roger Strong I had forgotten his ChCh West service. There were strong sporting links between GTHS and CWHS from the 1930s on. Some great contests, some of which Phil participated in, as did I some years later. As you'll know CWHS became Hagley HS etc and I had close ties with the school in my Dept of Education days in the 1980s.

Roger Strong I still vividly recall my first class in third form geography at West in 1955. Phil had known my brother at CTC and years later in Alaska I still recalled his wonderful block diagrams of hanging valleys and the rest. Last saw Phil when he was running past our house in Lake Terrace Road soon after I was married -in 1966. I taught in Whataroa in 1963-4 and have had a life-long interest in the gold rushes.
