George Gardner Herd St. was named after my grt grandfather (by marriage) as he was the first manager of the Rewanui Coalmine when it commenced operations. I do not know if he and family lived in the street.

I lived there and they were about 3 houses up .

Maggie Houston My twin sister and I lived there with our Mum for 3 years while Dad was serving overseas in WW11. My gran Alice Howard lived next door to us. That was a few years ago....was great friends with Peter Almond and Avis Barrow as we spent many years visiting Gran there .

Early 1980s I think
Maggie Houston They lived there in the 1940's/50's when I knew them probably did through to the 80's. Avis lived in Hari Hari for a few years. Her husband was the accountant for the Inter Wanganui Dairy Company. I have lived in Hari Hari since the 1940's.
Dorothy Wills My grandparents lived on Herd Street up a hill driveway Granddad Hewison had a glass house with a lot of tomatoes in I can’t remember clearly but have a feeling he might have sold tomatoes there were 2 other houses up the driveway one of them was Shottons I can’t remember who owned the other house would have been in the late 40s early 50s I last stayed with my grandparents Jack and Mary Hewison

Alison Wall Dorothy Wills I lived at 8 Herd Street. 1950s to 1972. Dave and Una Closs were our parents. The other family up the hill were Greaves (not sure of the spelling). As a little girl I used to visit..I remember a piano and still have a Peter Pan and Wendy book Mrs Greaves gave me. Seemingly I would run away and head up the hill. Mum always knew where I was.

Colleen Ming That pic looks older than the 70s, cars are older. My uncle Dave and Aunty Nellie Brown lived in Dunollie in the 50s, Nellies sister Elsie and Rowley and Mum, Maude lived there too. I lived in Christchurch but went there for my school holidays. Trish Rennie Recall Digger Johnson, the Warwichs, Greives, and Laings (Nancy in my class at school) living in Herd Street. I'm fairly sure that Sole Warner, Dunollie station master also lived there (next to McTaggarts) for some time. Have many great memories of the area with the playground and fishing for mountain trout and 'crawlies' in the stream. Johnny
Mann, grandfather of NZ Kiwi league star, Bruce, lived up the top end across the street from the Watsons.

I had so many great time at Auntie Susie & Uncle Arthur’s including Xmas Day dinners with a lot a lot of threepences and six pence in the plum duff- occasionally Aunty put a bigger coin in / but warned us for our teeth but, hey, we ate the plum duff.
Kevin & I climbed those hill with a ‘piecey’(sandwich) for lunch. Not sure I spell piecey right- never had to write it down
Amazing memories of a great time.
PS I left Dunollie in 1989 to go to uni in. ChCh.
Nostalgia kicking in.

John Webster Jennie could always run faster. I think it's before 1960. The houses look old style but they are well kept.
Our house at No 8 was on a quarter acre. Lots of really good memories of growing up. Everything a kid could ask for. Safety and freedom. Chance to roam until the street lights came on, or tea time. Whatever came first.
