Dave Perry Myron Caldwell Yep remember it being called that. We always referred to it as the Newton Flats Pub

Myron Caldwell I think parts of the building are still there amongst the menagerie there now. I presume way back then it was a lifestyle and not a profit making pub. At least it never got burnt down like many other Coast pubs. Accidental of course as you would understand.

Theresa Gibson Had an uncle stop there, was on a motorcycle, stumbled out sometime later to go back to Murchison. Bike was pointing in the same direction as when he got off, needless to say he ended up at the Lyell!Dave Perry Theresa Gibson He did well getting that far!!

Ron Pearson Grafton lives there. Or he did. Traveled around in a wagon with Clydesdale horse's. He use to display at A an P shows. Could make a good tourist attraction . Use to plough and have horses in working mode.

Dave Perry Theresa Gibson We had a similar event. My father and his mate stopped of at the Hampden in Murch on the way to Westport and ended up at Hamner springs pub for the night. Seems Sutherland Bridge is hard to spot sometimes

Mary Kirkwood My Grandmother worked there as the cook, when bus loads used to stop for lunch or overnight on there way to Wpt, as a family we used to visit her and would all sit around the huge table that was in the kitchen for a meal, We also used to go swimming in the river behind the pub. Joy White Ended up being the Newton Flat Hotel the building is still there.People live there and have the big horses etc.
