Date Created13th June 2019CommentsDon Hutton: A perfect example of what Dad called a "Bob Semple Monument." For younger viewers Bob was the Minister of Works under the Labour Government of the time and was responsible for the construction of many bridges like this throughout the country. Even my grandfather who was a right winger approved of Bob!

Mary Moffitt: Don Hutton Semple had some wayout ideas. He saw a bulldozer converted to a tank (Diston Tank) overseas, so he got the MOW to convert a caterpillar D8, 22 ton bulldozer into a tank - New Zealand's only tank.

John Anderson: That car in this photo also featured in an other photo of the Karamea Bluff on this site earlier this week ....I reckon this is the Granite Creek bridge at Kongahu on the Westport / Karamea highway .
