James Newby: When some of these logs were being pealed you’d get so far in and start hitting the shrapnel left in them from WW2,so it ended up with having to regularly change the blades on the machine.

Brian McIntyre: James Newby heard of that before too

Peter Lambert: Yep I spent a bit of time grinding and setting those knives. One piece of metal meant a couple of hours work. . .

Brian Gillooly: We were offered a " site " in the Solomons to log but didnt take it up due to the amount of War debris in he trees.

Peter Lambert Solomon Island Kauri for marine ply and a Maple for decorative siding ply.

Garry Wick The logs were sliced in Gladstone to make matching plywood . Those logs were probably Teak . We also got logs from Africa ,They were Mahogany .

Peter Lambert Sliced logs were done down the road at the old Ogilvies mill making veneers. . .Fletcher Wood Panels peeled logs after being cooked.
