DescriptionThe photo is just by the swing bridge that is just a few hundred yards out of Reefton going towards Blacks Point. On the other side of the river is the pipe line that went to the power station the remains of which are there today and the bridge is also still there and is part of a walking trail.

Funnell - descendants of John and Elizabeth Kerry Devescovi oh yes! . I was thinking it was a roadway of some sort, but a water race makes way more sense. And the steepness of the gorge would be reminiscent of Crushington, Blacks Point, where Helen’s father John McGregor was the Battery Manager in the late 1800s

Barbara Macilquham Do you know anything about the mcgregors?i have distant cousins on my fairbrass/taylor/mcgregor line.

Funnell - descendants of John and Elizabeth I have been rumaging around the family tree for the last year or so, and while "Fairbass" does not come up (as yet), Helen McGregor's childhood sweetheart was a Samuel Taylor. I have 'love" letters he sent to Helen while overseas during WWI. Helen however married Herbert Hart initially but, when he passed away Samuel swept down country, took Helen away and married her. Samuel Taylor had children from his first marriage, but not with Helen. Does any of this info ring a bell?

Barbara Macilquham Funnell - descendants of John and Elizabeth i am not sure.my great grandmother was lydia taylor.two of her brothers john and robert married mcgregor sisters.they were part maori.their mother or grandmother was the daughter of a maori chief.robert mcgregor from scotland owned a sailing ship.codie taylor is a distant cousin.i am going to be out of service for a bit but will look them up on google later to see if there is a connection.my rellies are from the lower north island
