The signal into blackball did come off the back of the translater aerial which was situated on Kellys range near Otira. I lived in blackball at the time and as I worked in the TV sales and repair industry I had intimate knowledge of the situation. The high power transmitter on Mt Murchison wasn't even built at that stage.I have also been to this site several times.

Dave Perry A mate and I called on Ross Wilson the school teacher in BB in 1966 and spent some time at the Pub they had just installed their first TV and all the local turned up to see it

Dianne Bell I lived in the Dominion hotel until the 1965 and the unicorn shop wasn't over the road then. I would think this photo would be at least the late 60 early 70s
Mum and Dad took over hotel after Hazel and Stan Benjer I think people by the names of Campbell and McDonalds were also previous owners. It was about 1956 we moved into the hotel.

Jessie Thompson The shop over the road next to the post office was les Kinsellas paper ice real and stationery shop. They sold Snowflake ice cream. Before wwe had a frig. We would take A jug down to Kinney’s and get a scoop of ice cream to put on our pudding on Sunday..

Lois Iacoppi - there was an annual concert in the miners hall, my mum used to sing , much to us kids embarrassment,one year she was Brittannia with a sheet wrapped around her but as she stepped backwards she trod on the sheet almost pulling it off.
Anne Honey - Does anyone remember travelling concert parties performing in the miners hall? Didn't they travel road services buses.
Kathryn Cox - I remember the Hokitika Review concerts coming 2 perform in the miners hall. Blackball ladies had some great concerts on that stage as well.
