Guys Post just up the Lewis Pass road

DescriptionGuys Post. On the bluffs across from the mouth of the Doubtfull River and just up the Lewis Pass road from the Engineers camp. Guy Patterson used to sit here and watch progress as the road was being built.No doubt only at smoko time! Nice to see it is kept maintained as something to remember the workers up there. Linda Skelton I did think that Hazel but wasnt sure and didnt know who to ask. Gordon certainly was a piece of the Poplars station and the Pass in general. Used to know the track over to the Maruia Hotel and went With dad and others into the Buffs in Reefton each month. Was a good age when still up in the snow grass mustering with all the young guns. We went back and stayed at his bach at the camp a time or two while he still lived at the Poplars. Another of the Good buggars.

Arthur Bass Good to hear where Gordon "moved to" often wondered going past The Poplars and his batch at The Camp. Hope I didn't stand on him taking this photo.

Linda Skelton He would have just said stop in at the Maruia and have one for me as you pass.
