Date Created12th July 2019CommentsWayne Nicholson: I remember staying in a railway carriage around this time at Arthurs Pass. It was kitted out as holiday accommodation for railway staff. Was on a lot by the train house. I think there may have been more than one. Snowed that week.

John Kerr: I think those carriages were left over from some royal tour?

Kerry Kerr: John Kerr I think mum and dad got snowed in and had to stay in one of them over night on there way over to have myself or Paul ?

Marie-Louise Annett: John Kerr I think mum and dad got caught in snow bringing a new baby back to Fox from Christchurch . Mum always said they stayed in the Queens carriage !!

John Kerr: Yep, I think thats right, they got stuck in Arthurs for the night.end too.

The year snow was very deep at Lake Coleridge. I remember trudging to school, only to get there with my brother and school was canceled. We built igloos and a huge snow car, had cocoa and hot soup. Loved it!
