DescriptionUncle Gerald West - brother of Floyd and Jack - with a car that he built himself. Gerry used to have a garage in Revell St Holitika for many years and had a great reputation as a mechanic. I believe this may have been taken late 1920s, early 30s.

Date Created14th July 2019CommentsPatricia Niha Uncle Gerry was our special uncle though not really related .Loved him to bits .As kids we spent many a weekend at his house by the beach with his wife Aunty Alice .RIP beautiful people.

Sharron Wright Loved uncle Gerry and aunty Alice, mum and dad lived next door to them in Revell street before the war, when I was born Aunty Alice was given the privilege of naming me. Lovely family and I still keep in touch with their daughter. Many happy memories especially of at lake Kaniere where Gerry raced his jet boat.

Wendy Intemann Smith When the West's lived in Westport they lived by my father's family. My brother Floyd is named after Floyd West.

Glenn Johnston Gerry West's garage in Revell Street, Hoki was still operating in 1974. When driving for Fairlies that was where we filled up with petrol.

Vicki Breeze So happy to see this photo of my gran dad.Popeye we called him.very happy memories staying with nana and Popeye. Funny man that's for real.all ways working late at nite.the house and garage are still there upper revell st.

Vicki Breeze He would our childhood was fun with him.had Nick names for every one.I was strawberry mum was sis.brothers taffy and handsome.so funny.lots of characters around town he had Nick names as well.

Vicki Breeze Mum just told me the car was called the red teara .she learnt to drive in it.had case.lol

Peter Mitchell Spent a bit of time in Gerrys workshop. Watched him light the pot belly stove (from a distance). Always remember him doing a machining job on my car and when I rang to see if it was ready, being told "I've got 'till effing Midnight"
